From Bud’s Desk: More than half of the readers of this monthly letter are Roman Catholic believers. Most of them know me and know that I am an Evangelical Christian who greatly loves and appreciates the brothers and sisters in the Catholic faith whose love and dedication to Christ is one that we share. They also know that I love and appreciate them and the strong prolife doctrine and theological statements which the Catholic Church holds. Unfortunately, just as has taken place in Evangelical pulpits and leadership, bold and courageous prolife shepherding in this Diocese does not come even close to the significance of the bloodshed of abortion. Last month we reported that Mercy San Juan Hospital (MSJH) gives admission and practicing privileges to three local abortion doctors. When informed of this outrage, Bishop Soto’s Respect Life Coordinator, Kathy Conner, would only refer me to Bryan Gardner at MSJH to answer our concerns. While confirming that MSJH does not allow abortions to be performed at Mercy, Bryan Gardner speaking for MSJH and apparently for the Dioceses of Sacramento provided the following to justify allowing the abortion doctors to continue practicing at MSJH: “Further, our insurance company contracts preclude us from denying privileges to OB/GYNs who wish to deliver babies at our facility because they also perform abortions at another site.” I appreciate your request to meet. However, I don’t see how that would be a productive conversation. My hope is that the above information answers the questions you have.”

OPEN LETTER OF APPEAL TO BISHOP SOTO
Dear Bishop Soto: You have the most honored position as Shepherd of the faithful Catholics in the Sacramento Diocese. I know that you are loved and respected as I have personally talked with dozens of the
Catholic faithful who week after week stand in front of the abortion mills in your Diocese, praying, offering help to abortion minded women while often being harassed by “clinic escorts” who want all of those coming in with a child to leave with an empty womb. The blood of 50 million little boys and girls now cries out from the ground: “Do you care Christians? Will you cry out for justice? Will you stand in the gap? Will you speak up, act up, and stand up for those coming after us?” Unfortunately Bishop, the leadership of the Christians, Catholic and Protestant seem not to care beyond tokenism. It is time for you and your Protestant brothers in the pulpit to roar against this greatest moral evil of our day. The blood of the baby holocaust thunders out loudly but the boldness and courage of the pulpits whimpers. It is time for real faith to be combined with real action. One Bishop who embraced this scriptural imperative is John Yenta, Bishop of Amarillo, TX. World Magazine reports that in l997 the good Bishop declared a goal of shutting down all 19 abortion clinics in his diocese. Four closed in l999, a fifth in 2000, five more in 2001 and four more in 2003. Due to the Bishop’s leadership, people were in front of the clinics praying, and in front of the fundraising gatherings of the abortion providers. Your support of “40 Days for Life” is recognized and appreciated, but many have concluded that that the abortion issue, a veritable flood of death and blood, get less attention from our shepherds than lobbying for food stamps and other government welfare programs on Catholic lobby day. Recently as reported below, prolife efforts to call attention to the bloodshed and requirements for lobbying for life were met with hostility and insult from two of the Cathedral ushers on Catholic lobby day. Three of us were treated with contempt by the ushers We were called “stupid”, “morons” and our prolife materials were called “crap.” The police were called in by somebody in authority at the Cathedral but thankfully, the police knew our presence was perfectly legal. We received more grace from the police than we did from the two ushers, one identifying himself as the Cathedral facility manager. This was brought to your attention. I believe that you care and hope the ushers repent. I leave you Bishop with these words from Scripture, hoping that you will vigorously lead and inspire Catholics and non-Catholics alike in taking bold, courageous and inspired leadership here in Sacramento. Lead us in making sure Catholic hospitals do not give hospitality and advertising for abortion doctors. Lead us in the real need of defending the innocents who are being killed weekly in our five advertised abortion clinics. “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, “Behold, we did not know this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will he not requite man according to his work?” (Pr.24:11-12)

Sohlnet continues to pray for and expose doctors who do not want to be known as abortion providers wherever they practice. We are currently concentrating on Dr.s S. Polansky, M. Kamras, L. Sundberg and J. Schwarz, all working out of four Camellia Women’s Health Clinics (CWH). These are the same physicians who practice at MSJH. They recently opened a downtown office in a building on Capitol Mall. We were there for their grand opening and will continue to hold prayer and proclamation vigils at their offices until their Saul like behavior is transformed. Ladies, have you asked your gynecologist or OBGYN if they conduct or refer for abortions? Encourage your friends to do the same. A referral for an abortion still kills a baby. Let us here from you as we want to uncover all of the covert abortionists and hopefully move them to a position of “doing no harm.”
